Local guide · Prague

Kamil knows Prague
from the inside.

"If you want to understand a place, don't just look at what it celebrates. Look at what it plays, what it remembers, and what people carry with them."

Born and raised in Prague. Background in political science. 5+ years of guiding · 1000+ guests. He uses the city itself - not a script - to show why hockey matters here.

Review by Esperanza

"Kamil's tour was absolutely brilliant. As someone who has taken walking tours on every continent, I can confidently say this was one of the most memorable. His skills are better than those of many university professors I've had. I feel truly lucky to have had this learning experience."

Why this experience exists

More than a city tour.
More than a match.

Czech history through ice hockey: independence, occupation, propaganda, resistance, and national pride. Designed for curious travellers who want depth and not just a checklist of monuments.

01 · For you if

You want depth, not landmarks

You care about why a city feels the way it does -and what people carry with them, not just what they show tourists.

02 · For you if

You like sport in context

Sport as a lens for history, identity and politics. You don't need to follow hockey, the story makes it click.

03 · For you if

You travel small & curious

Couples, friends, small groups, solo travellers who like real conversation over scripted commentary.

No charge if it doesn't fit. We review every request by hand. If Kamil isn't available, or no suitable match exists for your dates, we'll tell you clearly and offer the closest alternative.
The route

Eight stops.
One country's story.

From 1918 independence to the Nagano gold -moments, streets and symbols that help Czech hockey make sense.

01 · 1918 · National Theatre

A nation is born

Why hockey became part of how Czechoslovakia saw itself and what happened when that symbol was threatened.

02 · 1938 · Žofín Island

The first rink

Prague's original hockey stadium, on the brink of a Europe sliding into war.

03 · 1950 · Zlatá Hospůdka

The state turns on its own

National hockey players arrested by the regime, the emotional centre of the walk.

04 · 1950s · Myslíkova Street

Sport as performance

How bodies, crowds and rituals became propaganda and how ordinary people moved within that.

05 · Interlude · Lucerna

A Prague what-if

A lighter, local detail, the cultural palace that was once almost a hockey venue.

06 · 1968–69 · Wenceslas Sq.

Tanks, then goals

How victories over the USSR became political anger, hope and collective feeling on the ice.

07 · 1989 · Political Prisoners St.

Velvet Revolution

From fear and control to self-definition and the later split into two nations, two hockey stories.

08 · 1998–2001 · Hall of Fame

Nagano & memory

The route ends where pride becomes tangible players, trophies and the moments that still live.

Good to know

Common questions.

Do I need to know anything about ice hockey?+

Nothing at all. Most guests have never watched a hockey match. The history makes the sport make sense -not the other way around.

When can I do the live match version?+

Czech Extraliga runs September – April. Outside the season, Version A (walking + Hall of Fame) is a complete experience on its own.

What if no match is available for my date?+

We'll tell you clearly within 24–48 hours, suggest the closest alternative, or offer Version A. If nothing fits, there's no charge.

Is the history heavy? OK for all ages?+

Real and honest, not sanitised, but never shock-led. Teens and adults find it compelling. Younger children welcome with some parental context.

I'm travelling solo - can I still join?+

Yes. We regularly pair solo guests with other small groups on the same date. Just mention it in the form.

How is this different from a regular Prague walking tour?+

Most tours show you the same five landmarks and call it history. This one uses sport as the thread -and sport turns out to be one of the most honest ways to read a culture.

You'll leave Prague
knowing it.

Not the postcards. Not the highlights reel. The thing underneath -the stubbornness, the humour, the refusal to give in. The sport that made it visible.
