At Beyond the Pitch, we connect sport with culture in different ways. From local sports and cultural experiences abroad to unique sports clinics in the Netherlands, we help groups discover the stories, traditions and communities behind sport. For us, sport is more than just the game. It reflects the history, traditions and identity of the people and places connected to it. Voor ons is sport meer dan alleen de wedstrijd. Het laat de geschiedenis, tradities en identiteit zien van de mensen en plekken die ermee verbonden zijn.

That's why our experiences go beyond simply watching or playing a sport. We bring groups closer to the stories and communities behind it - whether that means stepping into a local sporting culture abroad or experiencing a new sport firsthand through one of our clinics in the Netherlands. Marc van der Werf

Born and based in the Netherlands, I've built my career in tourism, working on global projects for some of the world's largest airlines and leading international ground-transportation initiatives. Alongside my professional work, sport has always been a constant in my life - from playing as a kid to exploring new cities through their local sports culture. Geboren en woonachtig in Nederland, heb ik mijn carrière opgebouwd in het toerisme, waar ik wereldwijde projecten deed voor enkele van 's werelds grootste luchtvaartmaatschappijen en internationale grondtransport-initiatieven leidde. Naast mijn werk is sport altijd een constante factor in mijn leven geweest - van zelf spelen als kind tot het ontdekken van nieuwe steden via hun lokale sportcultuur.

With a degree in Sports Marketing and a lifelong passion for exploring new cultures through sports, food, language, and local experiences, I felt inspired to create a platform that brings all these elements together. That idea grew into Beyond the Pitch. Met een opleiding Sportmarketing en een levenslange passie voor het ontdekken van nieuwe culturen via sport, eten, taal en lokale experiences, voelde ik me geïnspireerd om een platform te creëren dat al deze elementen samenbrengt. Dat idee groeide uit tot Beyond the Pitch.

Martijn Berden

Football has been at the center of my life for as long as I can remember. I played professionally for around ten years, starting in the academy of PSV Eindhoven and later continuing my career across several first- and second-division clubs in the Netherlands. Voetbal staat al zolang ik me kan herinneren centraal in mijn leven. Ik speelde ongeveer tien jaar op professioneel niveau, begonnen in de jeugdopleiding van PSV Eindhoven en later actief bij verschillende eerste- en tweededivisieclubs in Nederland.

After stepping away from the highest professional level, I felt a strong desire to share what football has given me: the energy of performing for a crowd, the joy of entertaining people, and the unique connection that sport creates between players and fans. Combined with my passion for discovering new cultures, Beyond the Pitch gives me the perfect opportunity to bring these worlds together. Na het afscheid van het hoogste niveau voelde ik een sterke wens om te delen wat voetbal mij heeft gegeven: de energie van optreden voor publiek, het plezier van mensen vermaken, en de unieke verbinding die sport creëert tussen spelers en fans. Gecombineerd met mijn passie voor het ontdekken van nieuwe culturen geeft Beyond the Pitch mij de perfecte kans om deze werelden samen te brengen.
