"Growing up in Kilkenny, hurling was a way of life. I love welcoming visitors - showing them that while the capital has the lights, Kilkenny has the soul of the game. I don't just teach the skills; I pass on the 3,000 years of history that live in our streets."

Good to know

What is a unique thing to do in Dublin? +

One of the most unique things to do in Dublin is joining a small-group Gaelic Games experience. You learn the sport's history from local coaches at Na Fianna GAA Club, try it yourself on the pitch, and watch a live GAA match at Croke Park or Parnell Park alongside real fans. Beyond the Pitch runs these experiences from €115 per person - no prior knowledge required.

Is a live match ticket included in the Gaelic Games experience? +

Yes — and that's what sets Beyond the Pitch apart. Every experience includes a live GAA match ticket. Most Gaelic Games experiences teach you the sport. Ours takes you to an actual match the same day - from the dressing room to the stands. Match access is confirmed personally within 24–48 hours of your booking.

Is the stadium the same size as Croke Park? +

Not always. The club championship fixtures we currently offer in Dublin are played at Parnell Park, a smaller ground with a more intimate atmosphere - closer to the pitch and closer to the local supporters. County and provincial fixtures, including All-Ireland matches, take place at the much larger Croke Park (over 80,000 capacity). Both offer a genuine GAA matchday experience, just at a different scale - check the fixture details for the exact venue before booking.

Can I watch a live GAA match as part of the experience? +

Yes. Beyond the Pitch curates access to live GAA matches as part of every experience - championship fixtures at Croke Park and Parnell Park in Dublin. With the All Ireland season in full swing, there's no better time to be in Dublin for Gaelic Games. Send us your date and we confirm what's available within 24–48 hours. From €115 p.p.

What is hurling and why should I experience it in Ireland? +

Hurling is Ireland's ancient national sport - widely considered the fastest field game in the world. Played with a wooden stick (hurley) and a small ball (sliotar), it has been part of Irish culture for over 3,000 years. Dublin's GAA clubs are part of everyday life across the city.

How does the booking process work? +

When you submit a booking request, it is not an instant confirmation - we personally review each request within 24–48 hours. First, send us your details, preferred fixture and group size. We then check host availability and match access to find the best fit for your chosen date. Once reviewed, you'll receive an email confirming what has been arranged and the next steps to finalise your booking. Please note that match access and specific local arrangements remain subject to availability at the time of confirmation.

Can I join if I'm travelling solo? +

Yes. We run open-group experiences where solo travellers join a small group. Message us and we'll match you to the right date.

How long does the full experience take? +

Plan for roughly 5–6 hours from start to final whistle - including the intro session, training, and the match itself.

What happens if it rains? +

Hurling and Gaelic Football are played in all weather - and so is the matchday experience. We'll make sure you're prepared.

Is it possible to visit the All Ireland Final? +

It's a special day, and we understand why it's tempting to ask. In practice though, All-Ireland Final tickets aren't something we can access - they're allocated almost entirely through county and club channels to the supporters who've followed their team all season. We think that's exactly as it should be. What we do offer is access to championship fixtures throughout the year, so you still get the full matchday atmosphere - the crowd, the build-up, the roar - just not the final itself.

Do I need any experience to join? +

No experience needed. The Dublin experience is designed for complete beginners and international visitors. You'll learn the basic skills in a relaxed and welcoming environment typical of Irish GAA club culture.

How do I get from Dublin to Kilkenny if I want that experience instead? +

Kilkenny is approximately 90 minutes from Dublin by car, train or bus. Direct coaches run regularly from Dublin's Busáras station, so it's easy to combine both if your trip allows.

What is the best time of year to experience Gaelic Games in Ireland? +

Experiences and matches are available year-round.

How is this different from a standard Ireland experience? +

Most Ireland experiences show you the country from a bus window. Beyond the Pitch puts you inside Irish culture - on the pitch with local coaches, in a traditional pub learning the history, and in the stands at a live match where possible.
